Mystery Shopping...
Is it really possible to get paid to shop?
I first heard the phrase “Mystery Shopper” around about 1995. I was working a temp job for a very large and well known mobile phone company, my job was to input orders. I used to collect the faxes, answer the phones and simply input orders onto rather basic computers with green screens. My desk was situated right next to a small collection of desks with a sign hanging above them which read, “Mystery Shopper”.
If that’s not enough to prick a young mans interest, then I don’t know what is. Inputting data is boring, it’s repetitive and it’s very easy for your mind (and ears) to be distracted if you let them. I was certainly distracted by my new Mystery Shopper friends, they seem to really enjoy their work and have lots of fun at the same time.
A “Mystery Shopper” is someone that works for or is hired by a company to act as a customer in return for feedback on their experience. Sound daft? Not really, there’s lots of reasons why this is a great idea.
It provides management with an unbiased view of service
It allows the marketing department to ensure that a certain message is being presented correctly
It highlights areas of strength or areas that require additional training
It provides a benchmark for future tests
Improvements can be made based on your feedback resulting in better service
You see, it’s great for companies… AND…. It’s also great for the rest of us. Companies are prepared to pay as much as $50 a time or provide you with free goods in exchange for your help.
This means that there is opportunities for all of us to increase our residual income and make money being a Mystery Shopper., not only can we make some additional money working from home, we can also end up with free products, free trips or even a round of golf. So how does it work?
It’s quite simple really. You sign up with your chosen company (we can provide you with this information on this site), once you’re affiliated with your company of choice, they simply send you tasks or jobs to complete, the good news is that these are normally in your area. Usually the task will involve buying a specific product or asking a specific question, you usually get to keep the product as well as being paid a set amount and expenses (car park, petrol, bus fare etc).
If you’re looking for a new income which is fun and can be done working from home, mystery shopping could be a great new adventure in your life.
