Ultimately, it is the shops, banks, hotels and other service related companies that leverage Mystery Shoppers. However, most Mystery Shopper’s are hired through agencies. If you’re interested in becoming a Mystery Shopper, we would suggest that you sign up with a Mystery Shopper agency. Once registered, the agency will contact you direct when work becomes available.
How much will I get Paid?
The amount you’re paid can vary greatly. Please be realistic, you will not be able to retire on the proceeds of Mystery Shopping. If you’re looking for a fun way to earn some extra cash then there is certainly worse things to consider. Fees can be between £5 and £50, it is unusual for them to be more than £20 You should also expect some payment towards travelling and car park expenses.
How much work will I get?
Again, this will vary depending on where you live, your experience, the number of agencies you’re registered with, the list is endless.
Most experienced Mystery Shoppers will register with as many agencies as possible, this means that they have more chance of being given work.
What skills are required to be a good Mystery Shopper?
Most agencies will be looking for good observation skills, good writing skills and the attention to detail. If you’ve worked in retail, or customer service in the past this will help greatly.
Will I be charged to become a Mystery Shopper?
Our advice is never to pay to become a Mystery Shopper. Think about it, it should be the other way around, right? Only consider paying to become a member if there are guarantees regarding the amount of work that will be offered. So far, we’ve not seen any company offering this.
